Standards of Excellence
The FSL staff at Kent State University are devoted to helping the FSL community create healthy and holistic membership experiences for all members. With these Standards of Excellence, a minimum and excellent standard is applied and expected from all chapters on the Interfraternity Council (IFC) Panhellenic Council (NPC) and United Greek Council (UGC). All documenting of these Standards are completed through individual chapters and accumulated by staff before the start of every semester.
The purpose of the Standards of Excellence (SOE) program is to assess chapter performance based on the five pillars of Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) at Kent State University:
Scholarship
Leadership
Community
Philanthropy & Service
Brotherhood & Sisterhood
Additionally, the SOE program aims to:
Promote and uphold the expectations and operational standards of FSL and CSI
Provide chapters with a comprehensive guide of best practices that encourage continuous improvement
Recognize high-performing chapters and identify areas of development for under-performing chapters
Ensure that students involved in FSL at KSU are receiving a holistic fraternal experience
All chapters who score excellent in all Five Pillar categories and who complete our minimum standards requirements are awarded “Chapter of Excellence”
Additionally, community service and philanthropy are followed and recorded by each chapter as well. This, and GPA information for chapters are recorded in our semesterly community report which is viewable and renewed each semester.
